Meet Rae Guidry

Rae Guidry

Hi there! My name is Rae Guidry, and I am from Beaumont, Texas. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from the University of Alabama and my Masters in Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette . I enjoy working with adolescent and adult individuals who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief and trauma, and managing life transitions. My approach to counseling is mostly person-centered, with a hint of strengths-based and emotion-focused techniques thrown into the mix!

Throughout my time in school, I developed a passion for the brain and the way it affects our actions and emotional responses – especially as it relates to trauma. Because of this, I decided to add a concentration in Neuroscience to my degree program in my final year of undergraduate school. I am in awe of the human brain’s plasticity and its ability to help us cope with things that are often too hard to manage at the conscious level. I hope to further my knowledge and nourish my love for neuroscience in the future and obtain necessary certifications to provide trauma-informed counseling from a neuroscience lens.

In addition to my love for the human brain, I find myself to be drawn to research regarding the formulation of certain eating disorders as it relates to human attachment styles. Our attachment styles shape our relationships with not only those around us, but also our eating habits and the relationship we develop with health and nutrition. I believe that when viewed from an attachment perspective, the treatment of disordered eating can become tangible and holistic, as opposed to just simply the psychological treatment of a disorder.

My goal is to give my clients the tools they need to be confident in who they are as people. I believe that in order to make changes in our lives, we must first be aware of all that we are capable of. Each person comes with their own set of strengths, and my goal is to highlight these strengths to cultivate a positive change throughout the counseling process. I promise to meet you wherever you are on your journey to success and provide a trustworthy, reliable, and safe space for you to come and unload all of your troubles!
